Subscribe to our channel! rupt.ly/subscribe Hundreds of people demonstrated in Sao Paulo on Sunday to call on Congress to approve a measure which would revert the decision of Brazil's Supreme Federal Court which allowed the release of former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva from prison in November. Demonstrators called on Congress to vote for a constitutional amendment proposal in favour of prison after a second instance conviction. The crowd also responded to calls to support the anti-corruption policies of Justice Minister Sergio Moro. Balloons depicting Moro as a heroic figure, as well as a balloon lampooning Lula and Supreme Federal Court judges were floating above the march. A number of homemade signs were also brought along, many carrying anti-corruption slogans. Lula was convicted and sentenced to 12 years on charges of corruption and money laundering in January 2018 and was ordered to start serving his sentence before all his appeals were exhausted, by Brazil's Supreme Court in April 2018.
