The National Museum Rio De Janeiro Brazil Walking Tour Before the Fire (Museo Nacional)
The National Museum Rio De Janeiro Brazil Walking Tour Before the Fire (Museo Nacional). The National Museum (aka Museu Nacional) is the oldest scientific institution of Brazil and one of the largest museums of natural history and anthropology in the Americas. The museum is located inside the Quinta da Boa Vista park, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, and was installed in the Paço de São Cristóvão (Saint Christopher's Palace). We are so privileged to have visited the museum before a catastrophic fire destroyed 90% of the collection on September 2, 2018. The National Museum held a vast collection with more than 20 million objects, encompassing some of the most important material records regarding natural science and anthropology in Brazil, as well as numerous items that came from other regions of the world and were produced by several cultures and ancient civilizations. Hope you guys enjoy this Walking Tour featuring collections that have now been destroyed... a great loss for humanity.
